New to forum, returning to the addiction of keeping/caring for fish. Haven't posted yet, too busy reading up. Great advice too be found. My wife decided she wanted a couple of Goldfish three years ago, and got a 10 gal. tank, which I would care for. First double filtration, then wait it out. Told her when they're gone changing to Tropicals. They both died last year, six months apart. As they were from Walmart, glad they lasted as long as did. Got a single Blue Gourami. I know he needs a bigger tank, was supposed to a dwarf.(Always get the fish yourself!) Just didn't want to restart an onging tank so for now it's his. Getting him at least a 20 or 30 gal. (warned my wife beforehand.) Also a fan of live plants, and will be changing to sand. As for the 10, after reading a bit here, I am convinced that a Betta needs a good home. Other than that my dog does not care for Daddy paying any attention to the tank, as I belong to him! Great Forum, Great advice. I agree that the best thing you can do for your fish is research.

Hello and welcome to us doodle...... I can just see that you're going to enjoy your stay..... Happy mingling & reading.

Well switched substrate to sand. Thanks to all the great info here, no worries. Slight cloudiness, cleared in a couple of hours. I like it, my wife likes it, even though she picked out the blue and white gravel that was there.(at least it wasn't hot pink!) Most importantly Big Blue the Barbarian seems much happier with it. Now just to get rid of those tri-colored decorations! Leaving them until I find the rocks I want as Big Blue likes to hide out behind them when not in his plants or attacking the front of the tank when the dog is in my lap.
