How's Everyones Tank Doing?

although nothing is in the there and the only thing running is my 2 pumps its at around 28.9. Feels really hot in my bedroom compared to the other rooms in he the house since ive had the tank running for last 48hours.

i got the temperature down 4 degrees last night with a 15 inch (roughly) fan over the sump

bring on the winter

Mr zipzap has a plan for emergency tank cooling, Place small power head in tank with a length of hose connected. run hose out of tank and coil it up into a bucket and then back into tank. Fill bucket with water and place some ice packs in it, As water travels through pipe its cooled in bucket and flows back into the tank. The heater in tank will stop water getting too cold... cheaper than a cooler!!

Do you guys in the UK not have air conditioning?

I have noticed alot of people complaining about warm temperatures messing with their tanks. Maybe A/C is a luxury only americans enjoy :p

just kidding, It's worth it though!

not worth it in the uk. only get decent weather fora few weeks of the year.

it is nice we i go to america with the aircon. but then its still alot hotter anyway.

Plus the fact that we pay a riduclous amount of money for electricity. Having an aircon running everyday for the summer would make me sweat more in anticipation of the electric bill, than the hot weather :p

AK you have a point there, on par with an immersion heater or electric I think. Way too expensive for us over this side of the pond for the amount of time it would get used.

The other big difference is relative humidity. You guys in the UK do not have very high dewpoints since you're nowhere near hot water. Here in the States, if you're like more than half the population living east of the rockies, it gets HUMID and that reallyl kills any ability to cool via evaporation, either for us humans, or for our tanks. We almost NEED A/C to drop the dewpoint to a useful level.

got the tank down this evening to 25 degrees now ive added a 6inch fan above the sump wired up to the atc800. will have to see what its at tomorrow.
