Hey,

Im gonna run you through how I think bactinettes works and I want to know if its right cos its sitting in my fridge now!

you drain out the water and put the crystals in your filter foam sponge thingimaboby. the end!

and if i put it in my fluval 2 they wouldnt fall out will they?

thanks, orange shark

dunno about the fluval specific question - cos I dont have one, but what you describe with the bactinettes is exactly what I did. I used a sieve to get rid of the liquid.

Just a quick question - you do know that bactinettes dont have the correct nirtIte eating bacteria dont you? It only helps to speed up the ammonia eating part of the cycle - I cant remember at what point your cycle has stalled but if your ammonia is disappearing and your nitrite isnt you may not notice much difference by using the bactinettes

if the worst comes to the worst as a last resort you can always use the 'nitrazorb' filter media from API, I suggested it to a friend, he used it on his tank and it did work (he was fish cycling and I was more interested in the welfare of his fish mind). You just put the little cushion in with your other filter media.

Im just using it anyway, i dont care if it dont work lol, funny thing is my ammonias been dropping but my nitrites at 0, its deffinately been dropping because of nitrite but i havent got any at the moment. Does that mean im done or something? CRRRAAAZZZZYYYYY!!!!!!!!

Hi everybody,

I'm wondering about Bactinettes??!!!!!
We have just put some inbetween our filter sponges as instructed to do so, and now have some on top of the gravel. Is this safe and what can we do about it?????????

Thanx.

You might want to find a way to stop them getting out the filter, but they're not actually harmful. They'll dissolve eventually or they'll be sucked up when you clean the gravel. Some of my fish tried to nibble on them and came to no harm. They realised they weren't food pretty quickly.
