How To Tell Sexes

I have 5 Corydoras Triliatus (marked as julii) 1 x big one and 4 small ones. I just wondered how you tell which ones are males and which ones are females?

Also how old do they have to be before they start breeding? any advice would be greatly appreciated.

nice pics. i just checked my corys and i think i have a male and female. i have had both for at least 6 mths and the one is just way smaller than the other.

Thanks for the info I think mine are still too small to tell. They are all the same size apart from one big one but I've got nothing to compare it agaisnt!

She is a little bit smaller and still spawn, most of the time C.paleatus hiding the eggs under leaf and I can't collect them all. Most of them get eatting by adults. I do remove some into breeding tank and got some little one.

Hi all, I have 7 Wild Sterbais, if Its always the case, the females are fat then I have 6 Femalea + 1 Male! I wanted to breed them in the future, is there any hope.. I know its best to have more Males then Females . Could 1 of the females be a fat male ? Thanks--

lol one of my bronze females is probably bigger than that , she is mahoosive

Personal method for surefire sexing for me is to slowly lower the waterlevel of the tank, dwindle feeding, as if mimmicking a slow winter then slowly raise the water again after about a month, along with the food intake, as well as temperature, then the females quickly start bloating with eggs, and males will get feisty & chase them around nuzzling at thier underside.

Young females SOMETIMES have a visible area towards the back of thier tail that looks like a < shaped sack of white. Easiest seen in albino corys or bronzes. As a general rule, males have a sharp, downard slope to the back leading away from the corsal & females will have a chubby smooth curve, and get VERY fat as soon as they have matured enough to produce eggs.
