I was curious on ways to tell if a Dojo/Weather loach is carrying eggs. I know my chances of having fry are slim to nil, since they are not known to breed in captivity and are in a comminuty tank, but I have noticed my female seems to have gotten rather... round, and has a dark spot where her belly is, while her male counterpart has not grown around, and has not this spot. Also, just in the last 2 days, they've been spending a lot of time hiding under my peice of slate, which (even though the slate has been there a long time, and was put there just for them) they have yet to do, they do not normally hide.

So, any tips to knowing if she's carrying eggs? And, are they external or internal fertilizers? If they started showing a lot of mating-type behavior, I'd be willing to go out of my way to make them comfy... It would be SO awesome to have my first ever bunch of fry be from a fish that doesn't normally breed in captivity ^___^ Even though I do not intend to breed, I would not make any attempt to hult their breeding, as they are not common around here, and I adore the species.
