As for the dead chap... did he show any signs of the shimmies (swimming up and down the tank's pane again and again)? Moving continuously between areas of high and low current? Swimming as if his fins were paddles?
Fyi my swordtail exhibited slightly less severe symptoms and also died, but luckily there has been no spread so far of the infection.
