How to secure plants, ornaments, etc.....

How can I secure things in the tank? Is there something in nylon zip ties that will seep out into the tank? or better yet fishing line?

Do you need it to be permanent? If not, I'd think a rubber band would be ok for a few days. The fish line should be good and nylon strands should to be relatively inert.

What were you looking at securing in the tank? Most plants etc. have weights and stuff and are easily weighed down with gravel etc.

Rubberbands should be fine...just rinse them in tankwater first on a separate container

I have a ledge in my tank that I was putting gravel on and a plant. But its hard to get enough gravel over the base of the plant to hold it firmly(because the ledge is smal and the gravel tends to fall off). I just thought it would be easier to secure it first then lay the gravel around it. Plus I have some air tubing I needed to secure. I just didnt know what was safe for the aquaruim.
