I aquired a 10 gal tank for free. It has some white buildup on the sides which i guess is calcium. I have tried vinegar to remove it, scrubbing, soaking, and even used a product called Lime Out and nothing has even come close to disolving it. Anybody have any ideas? I might just ditch it, but i thought i'd see if anyone has had luck removing it without expensive chemicals.

ahahahhaha i had this problem too.

Try a razor blade
it works but it takes a while.......your lucky i had a 30 gallon to scrape :)

razor blade and some bleach, then wash with a very strong salt solution, then rinse VERY thoroughly with fresh water and let dry. repeat process if neccasary

i did not use bleach.........i found better stuff in my house. I used this wine bottle disenfetant cleaner. It is like bleach but it is not as toxic. Its pink and comes in a powder.

I'm suprised vinegar didn't work. I used ninigure and some water and let it soak for a few hours then did some scrubbing it should work.

I soaked it in pure vinegar overnight, didn't even make the slightest difference. I thought it would work as well. Beats me.

I used sink limescale remover on my tank. Then gave it a good wash with soap.

scouring pad is what i used. i never use bleach on my tanks or equiptment its labeled as a toxin clorine is a type of bleach -_- but if you guys use it then i guess its ok ... id try acid on it before bleach tho B)
