How to reduce noise/vibration?

Hello,
My guppys had fry about 2 months ago and I have been keeping them inside my main 10 gal. tank in a maternity plastic box. They have grown a little and I felt they were way too cramped in the box so today I bought a secondary smaller tank witn an air pump and an airstone. Thing is this aeration system is causing too much noise and vibration in the tank, and the bubbles come off a little bit too hard too, especially when compared to the quiet powerhead I keep in my main tank.

Does this noise/vibration stress the fry? ('cause it's sure stressing the heck out of my family!)

Does it have to be running 24 hrs, or can I turn it off at night?

I have 22 baby guppys. And I have tried putting the airstone inside a little ceramic dollhouse(the bubbles come out from the chimney, it's really cute) and put a fiber/sponge thing (the one I use to wipe algea from my main tank) underneath to reduce the vibration but it still annoying.

Thanks a lot for any advice!

The only way I can think of to reduce the vibration is to put the pump on a folded towel or something. They are usually still loud though, IME. For the bubbles, go to your lfs and buy a valve for airlines. They have singles, 2 gang, and I think even 3. Each one has a valve to adjust the air output.

I'm curious why you added the airstone-I don't run air into any of my tanks (I hate the vibration and noise). Is the tank filtered?

I know this may sound strange but mine made a complete racket. Putting it on a folded teatowl didn't work for me until i turned the thing upside down.

As soon as i did that the thing is wisper quite now. I don;t know how or why it worked but it worked.

Do you have a a muffler on yours where the air intake it? Mide did and i didn't have that on too. Add that on made it a bit quiter but when i turned it upside down that really did the trick.
