heres a quick and simple guide to bagging fish ready for transport i made

first of all you will need a fish bag most fish shops will sell them to you very cheaply
PICT0558.jpg

now fill so that when the bag is tied there will be 1/3rd water and 2/3rds air (use water from tank)
PICT0559.jpg

now lift the bag and check for leaks as even new bags can have pin prick holes in
PICT0560.jpg

now if the fish bag is rounded like the ones im using then dont worry but if it has corners then tape them up so its rounded
PICT0564.jpg

now place fish in the bag after rolling down the sides so that the fish is not bashed against the sides

now straighten the bag
PICT0561.jpg

now quickly close the top of thebag and twist the top so the bag is pressurized
PICT0562.jpg

now some may decide to tie the top of the bag however i find the best way is to fold over the twist and wrap a band around the twist untill its tight
PICT0563.jpg

now to double bag place the sealed bag in a bowl or steady counter top and slowly slide the a second bag over the top
PICT0565.jpg

PICT0566.jpg

now gently turn over the bag so the water and fish is now at the top of the bag and slide the sealed bag to the bottom of unsealed bag
PICT0567.jpg

now twist the top again
PICT0568.jpg

now turn over top and seal as before
PICT0569.jpg

now you have succesfully bagged a fish ready for transport

now some of may not be able to get the nack of closing the top DO NOT BE TEMPTED TO BLOW THE BAG UP WITH YOUR MOUTH

so you may choose to use a air pump to fill with air

so fill with water so that the tied back will be filled with 1/3rd water and 2/3rds air

PICT0570.jpg

place air tube in bag and sqeeze the top tight around the tube

now allow to fill

once pressurized carry on as usual

You are putting CO2 into the bag, the fish need O2.

Nice tutorial! I agree, this should be pinned. I may need it in a few months, and I don't want to have to look through pages and pages of topics. :p

Nice tutorial, iv always tied mine tho, im all thumbs when it comes to bands

thanks every one

ive never boxed any fish before so maybe thats a job for you nelly lol as id giive the wrong advice

  maybe when i get a chance

Easy really, what i do is wrap up each of the double bags in a few sheets of newspaper, then before line the box with newspaper and

place a heat pad at bottom of box, then place each fish bag in, all space left i cram full of screwed up newspaper tightly compacting

box, then on top another heat pad<in summer i only used one as fish i was sending were sub tropical...

If you can get the poly boxes from local fish shops or online, depending on fish your wishing to send get a box the appropiate size,

Then get name and adress and stick it so box does not have to be turned upside down, then also write in big bold lettering...

Live fish stock, please handle with care<keep this way up>

yeah ill have a look into it then and probably do one
