Fortnightly for me, too, Chris. I think a lot depends on the stocking volume, type of fish, maturity of filter bacteria etc. (I have one tank I do quick gravel vac weekly and that is purely because of the type of fish in there, plus an Apple Snail now that poops a lot!)
As far as tips for the OP to remember to clean their tank... how about setting your alarm clock and getting up half hour earlier on a weekend day? Your tank is only 10 gallon (two of mine are 10s so I know how easy they are to maintain)...you will probably only need to remove one washing-up bowl/half a bucket of water from the tank. Not like you'll have loads of trips back n forth to the bathroom/kitchen.
If you love your fish you won't need an incentive to do it - your conscience will be the only thing you need...
