I've got a penn plax cascade 300 filter (70 gph) for my 2.5 gallon tank. It will be for a betta but when I cut the filter on, there is way too much water movement for a betta. I already cut it down to its lowest level. Is there something I can do to lower the amount of water is sucks in or shoots out so there wont be sooo much movement?

Could try putting a filter sponge over the out going water which slows it down and gives you a little more filter or you can find another way to redirect the water so that it dulls it out the water quickness over the full tank

Ooh I know! I've used this a couple times for my bettas. Take a soda/water bottle, cut off the top and bottom of the bottle so you have just the middle cylinder, then cut the cylinder from top-to-bottom so that you have a sort of C-shape. Then you tape that over the filter. The water is directed out the sides and is a lot less strong. You might have to cut the slit wider in case it doesn't bend enough to fit around the filter.

Here's a pic incase that didn't make a lot of sense, you cut on the red dotted lines.

Oh i second Katty's idea. I've also used it on my Tetra Whisper 10i. It's known as a baffle. Good Luck! It really is quite simple and will make your Betta very happy!

Just the idea I needed

Thank you

Thank you so much for the idea...I will try this

I just tried this, and it works perfectly. He can swim freely without the current pushing him to the back of the tank. I really appreciate the help...Thank you so much :)
