if you cant catch your fish in your net without disturbing your plants and making it look untidy just try my method it works ive done it lots of times all you need is a 500ml bottle make sure you clean it before you put it in the tank, then you get a scissors and cut the bottle about an inch from the neck of the bottle and then when you have done that put the neck of the bottle in the body of the bottle so it looks like a funnel then get some cellar tape and stick them together and then put some puncher holes in the bottle so it will sink in the tank and the last thing to do is put some food in the bottle and then submurge the bottle in the tank and wait for your fish to go in.

i hope i helped you B)

I feed my barbs some small guppies everyone once in a while, and when I put them in I just use my normal net. Well now when they see that they think there is going to be food in it, and they rush in... So within seconds I have a dozen fish in my net, I can never catch the right one! morons... lol

simpler solution: use 2 nets! works everytime, even for awkward fish like kuhli loaches and spiny eels. the beauty of two nets is you can catch them in the middle, rather than having to corner them. hope this helps all you people who find fish hard to net.

ps i learnt this working in my lfs

Can I make a small addition to your plans? Punch small holes in the bottle so that water can still circulate through it. I made a small trap like that to catch the kuhli loaches I had to transfer them out of my big tank, left it for a few hours with just a bottle cut off and inverted... and when i came back I had a dead cory and a dead kuhli inside :(

no way....theres times when even 30 nets wouldn't do it..i swear...especially in the heavily planted tanks

You think catching something in a planted tank is hard.... try catching a wrasse or a damsel in a reef tank!
