How To Know If Your Livebearers Ready To Drop Fry (Updated 15/04/12)

The yellow tailed fish is obviously much heavier than the blue tailed one. I would not expect either one to drop fry very soon but the yellow tailed one may be as close as a week to 10 days away. The blue tailed guppy is not that close in my estimation.

the yellow tail gave birth last night to 22 babies. i now have a total of 33!!! still none the wiser as to which 1 the first 11 came from as i only have the 2 of them. yellow's belly looks normal size now but blue is still big.

The first one of the pics looks very much like she has recently had fry.

When should I put my molly in the breeding trap? I have a Lee's 3 way breeder ( http/www.petco.com/Assets/product_images/0/010838102555C.jpg ). My molly (looks similar to this molly I found on the internet: http/gallery.aquariumhobbyist.com/data/102137molly_closeup-med.jpg ) is going near a corner but keeps swimming up and down, up and down, kind of spaztic. What should I do? I don't want to stress her out. I just bought her and the guy said she was going to "pop" any day now. What should I do?

You could place her in the trap for the night, turn lights out in the tank, give her a little food to minimize the stress.

Without seing the actual fish its very hard to predict when she will drop.

I bought 3 dalmation mollies yesterday and one of them appears to be pregnant. Please could you tell me if you think she is and if possible when you think she will drop?
