Hi,

I have a 40inch (length) by 16inch(width) tank, so slightly bigger than 3 foot. The fluorescent lights are getting covered in condensation, as is the entire innerside of the cover. I'm not happy with this and it doesn't look safe to me. I want to put a drip try in (which would also help stop hatchett fish jumping out). In my much smaller 10 gallon tank it came with already built glass shelves and the drip tray can just sit on these (it's cover actually has one built in anyway). In my larger tanks they don't have any glass shelves and I can't see anyway that one could attach them to the cover.

So my questions is, how do I get/fit a drip try to a large tank?

Thanks

i don't understand what you mean by drip tray... A drip tray is part of a wet/dry filter. Are you looking for some kind of splash gaurd? Can you post pictures or a youtube video explaining what you want to accomplish?

Yes a condensation tray, where I am from they mean the same things, obviously not when it comes to aquariums though! I went to find some clear perspex today and some plastic shelves I could glue in place and seal with aquarium sealant. However when I found some suitable trays that I could cut to size the experts in the shop told me that in aquariums, large tanks don't have them because the large fluorescent lights burn them and either make them brittle or melt within months... Is this true? If so how can I stop the condensation getting on the lights and, secondly how can I stop hatchett fish jumping and hitting the lights etc..?
