Ok as title suggests how do i grow and ancher down java moss properly ive never had it before and id like the java moss to cover the bottom of the tank in the end

Thanks in advance

Chris

I'm growing a moss wall with java moss & have it attached to netting.
Not sure if I like it yet as it's rather unruly.
I'm sure there are better plants to use as a carpet

I used to use Riccia flutans(?) under a net on some slate grows nice and makes a good carpet.

Use slate, tie it on with fishing line, just wrap the line when you have enough on top and put in the tank, wont take long till you have a bushy moss covering, do that as many times as you like till you have covered the area you want too. :)

Just make sure the fishing line is tight enough so fish can't get caught in it.

i would not recommend using java moss for a carpet. it collects all of the poo in the tank and can become covered in algae. also once it starts growing the moss at the bottom of the carpet will die if you dont keep it trimmed.

Check the journals you'll see some great java moss carpets on there, providing you have good flow and keep it trimmed you won't have problems.

Thanks for the replies i think ill use something else for a carpet if its a little dodgy any suggestions i know one has already been stated and will have a look at that :)

Riccia is great for a carpet.

As for attaching moss I use glue. There's a chemical that's in some glues that isn't good for fish, cannot remember the name of it though. Hopefully someone on here will jog my memory.

Just use Super Glue. You want to make sure it's made with cyanoacrylate.

:D thank for ya help

Oldspouse so do i just look for that chemical and ignore the rest of the ingrediants in the super glue?

I use the Super Glue that lists that as the first ingredient. Never had a problem.
