How would I go about rehoming my common pleco and tetras?

Right now I'm hoping to rehome my common plec and some Congo tetra, black neons and glowlights, but I honestly don't really know how to do that. The pleco, black neons and Congo tetra were bought at a specialised aquatics shop, but the glowlights I have were bought at Pets at Home (gritting my teeth just thinking about it) so I can't exactly return them to that hell-hole.

Would any fish shop take in a few fish or do you have to give them back to the specific place you got them from?
As far as I'm aware I don't have any friends or relatives outside of my immediate family that could take in tropical fish (my older sibling and their partner have a cold water tank so I'm out of luck there), and I don't exactly want to give them up to someone from halfway across the country in the middle of this pandemic.

Any advice is appreciated, just please don't yell at me lol I'm very inexperienced.

UPDATE: My sister's goldfish just died so I will attempt to convince her to set the tank up as a tropical tank and make it her problem.

You can post an ad on social media, like Facebook groups or the like. I would say call a couple of fish shops to see if they will take them. My LFS will take fish, but won't give credit or cash.

My LFS is a Maidenhead Aquatics branch and they have taken the odd fish off of me from time to time. As Circus says, they have never offered me anything for them and neither would I expect it. I view it as them doing me a favour.

Oh that gives me hope then! The ones near me are Maidenhead Aquatics as well as a locally owned shop, so I'll check both. Thank you!!

I'd second Maidenhead too - most are pretty reliable stores.

I posted my goldfish that needed to be rehomed on a facebook group

Fish Re-homing UK

took only a couple of days to find the right home for it.
