hi i breed my bettas  i now have 5 week old fry feeding well on microworm and they are swimming fine i ahve about 20 now :/ is this normal this is my first time at breeding bettas and i guess i was lucky to have such a fast result first time they hit the bulls eye so to speak but anyway i sthere anything i can do to help them along ? how can i make them grow faster ? thanks :)

you could probably start moving from microworms to larger foods like BBS(only slightly larger), bloodworm and maybe some really small pellets or finely grinded flakes.

how would i give them the blood worm ? just from frozen like with normal fish and i thought blood worm wasnt as nutrious as other foods ? also i havent got a filter running on this tank should i turn it on yet as wen i do it blows the little guys all around the place what should i do i know i sound like a flid but its my first time lol

You need to start feeding them something other then MW's. they should be old enough for live grindals, bbs, frozen bbs, frozen daphia.

What size tank are they in? How often are you feeding them? What's the temp?

They are still too small for bloodworms, and likely to choke to death on them. Trust me, this is a heartbreaking way to lose fry.

Also, most bettas won't eat flakes, particularly juvies.

the temp is 80f and i am feeeding them 2 times a day on microworm morning and night they are in a tank 50cm x 25cm x 30cm i take it my lfs will sell bbs frozen? are there any iside tips i should know about?

That tank is way too small. They need to be in a growout tank of 15-20g, min. They should be fed 4-5 times a day at that age.

Water temps fine. How much water are you changing, and how often?

How big are they right now?

i do a water change little and often say every other day i got told that you shouldnt change loads and when you do replace it with conditioned water? the biggest are coming up to an inch and there fins are starting to get some colours i have a really large red one im sorry i must sound like a rite novice but i guess i have to start somewhere, should i turn the filter on its a fluval 2 and think its to powerfull

you need live food not frozen...get some BBS eggs and hatch them i salt water aquarium salt or you can but a kit if you lfs do them for £8.00 include a hatcher that fits in your tank eggs and salt will do about seven hatches from the kit so buy some more eggs......you can put in a sponge filter that will not throw the fry around i guessing these are veil tails there is no magic forrular to make them grow faster just feeding them live food untill they can take pellets.............

i can get the brine shrimp eggs really cheap lucky to have a wholesaler :D tanks and filters all at wholesale price do you think changing more water would help them to grow faster? and is filtration really important at this stage?

Fry release a hormone that inhibits the growth of their siblings. If you do larger water changes, not only does the clean water keep them healthier and help them grow, but it also makes sure there is less of that hormone in the water.

You should be changing the water every day.

how much water should come out at each change and im starting to feel like my fish should have died along time ago :/
