Thanks for this idea. I tried cucumbers for my loaches before and they ignored them (since they floated...lol) I tried this tonight and they're all over them! My Leporinus is tearing the cumcumbers up too.

P.S. I am trying it w/ my plecs too but they are still ignoring them as much as before (i'm used rocks to hold em down for the plecs before)

We feed our plecs cucumber all of the time and they love it. The only problem we would using your method would be that a slice would last about two minutes (if we were lucky). We feed them whole cucumber and that only lasts about a day! But that is an excellent idea for smaller fish to eat it with out having to try to break through the skin. Especially since i got bored picked out the lumps of lead weight i had used to put small bits in.

Hi,

Most loaches and plecs will eat cucumber, my platies like it too. Banana went down well with the clown loaches but it quickly turns to mush so i would only leave it for an hour then swap for a fresh piece. What kind of fish do you keep you haven't filled that bit in on your profile.

Emma :)

Hi Emma,

This is a really good thread and lovely pics! I tried feeding the bristlenose pleco some cucumber yesterday but they pieces of cucumber kept coming off the top part (handle) of the fork and it floats in the water - is there a way to stop the pieces of cucumber from falling out?

Thanks.

Thats a great idea.

I suppose you could get those metal thin long handled fork used for BBQ`s that are a bit like skewers. Then you could make a lovely Vegetable kebab for the little "suckers"...
