how to convince mom to get a bigger tank?

I think the best thing to do is to write down all the reasons why a new tank would be good and how you could benifit from it, then show her the idea and all the work you did, she will be so suprised and happy at how you presented the idea and glad you didn't just bug her every day about it. If you your lucky you got yourself a new tank. If your not lucky she will just say, "Well I would love to get you a new tank, but there just isn't enough room right now, maybe in a few years." Or "When you move out you can have as many fish as you want."

Tell your mom that not having a new tank will leave you with more time and money to do crack.
i tried that and all my ma did was give me a look that was sayin"you better not be kiddin boy"ah ill probably have to go with please over and over again  .

Used to work for me

My other idea is find a study published in a medical journal that suggests that watching fish is relaxing and lowers blood pressure. Then start crying and say "You don't want me to die....do you?"
i cant sop laughing.
 :D

I told my mother it would be a nice free aditional piece of furniture for the family room, she likes new furniture and her friend went crazy rearangeing the room

hehehe

acually i know how u feel..it took me 2 DAMN YEARS to get my first 10 gallon fish tank..begging everyday (almost) and yea i got my first 10 gallon..yay..guess what? I WANT MORE FISH

then my aunt gave a another 10 for christmas..... :hyper:

does your mom like fish at all? have her take you to buy a fish. get her hooked. thats what my kids did to me. look at my sig. it worked. i now have full blown mts

I would say back off and leave it for a while :/

once a mum has said no she is not going to want to be seen to be changing her mind and giving in, especially if your asking in her eyes looks more like nagging. Im not saying leave it forever, just for.... a month?....use this period to show your mum what a nice, helpful, responsible fishkeeper/son you are and then try again.

the time passing will make it seem like a new request that can be considered without you appaering to have won the battle of the tanks.

good luck :)

i feel for you wrs, I'm about to commence the same battle with my mum :/ my plan is if she says no, to wait two months then try again to prove that i really want the tank and it isnt just "a phase". Also i was thinking of letting her help choose the fish that go in it :D

I think Ill just stop asking for a while and talking about fish and buying them. She said for a while Ive been doing that and it really bugs her. I know my dad would like to have some certain fish, and he even said that he likes some tanks. So maybe Ill have my brother ask him. But ill wait to ask my mom for a month or so. Thats when i want to get it anyways, in June.
