How to build a betta barracks?

I am wanting to build my own betta barracks and was wonderng how i would go about building it? what materials do i need? i was thinking on buying a long piece of acrylic and dividing it up into medium sized boxes using dividers! each box would hold about 1/2 gallon! how do i keep the water fresh?
