How Square Is Square

No doubt a few more might pop up,i thought i only had 16 platy fry, when i done the weekly water change and gravel vac i sucked up quite a few, good job i checked the buckets first
Then when i upgraded the tank i found some more under ornaments etc...

I ended up with 35!! :)

congrats on the fry.. I like the survival of the fittest rule which is why my fry will be left to fend for themselves (ill feed them but i wont seperate them from the adults)

I'll probably end up doing a survival of the fittest, but this is my first batch of fry so I'm dead set on saving everyone of them lol. I should be over run with fry pretty soon as I have my trio of guppies a trio of mollies a pair of sword tails and some juvi platys. I know that some pet stores will take juvis for store credit what is a fair amount to get for say 3/4 to 1inch?

dont know as ive not given fry to an LFS yet? (will be doing so soon mind) but as the LFS sell livebearers at about 1.50-2.50 each (guppies being cheap and swordtails being more) then i think you'll be lucky to get 20p per guppy fry...very lucky

But thats a stab in the dark really

Look at the price you would likely pay for the same fish in that store that you want to sell your fry to. I would not expect to get as much as half that amount from a LFS business. They will inevitably lose some fish before they sell them all and they will still need to make a profit, they are not running a charity. I try to sell my surplus directly to other hobbyists because I can get a better price than at the LFS and the person who buys from me gets a good price compared to the LFS too. The problem is that there are just not that many people who are looking for exactly what you have to sell.

What is wrong with that female in your pic. Red patch on top of big white patch?

I don't know what kind of tetra that is Tropic John. Why do you think there is something wrong with it?

I know i'm not really going to make money of these guys but I can't keep them all so I was just wondering what to expect. My lfs seems to be a little overpriced as regular fancy guppys go for 5.99 and mollies/platys for 4.99. I could always try an online classified as well. I just foresee many many fry in the future and I'm trying to figure out what to do with them. A friend of mine has an oscar and wants the fry for feeders, I'm not really willing to do that. I think I'd rather just keep all of them! lol.

I don't think these anything wrong with it. I posted in another thread seeing if anyone knew what it is, someone said rosy barb.... It was in with the zebra danios, I just thought it was interesting. Anyone have a clue what kind of fish?

I think it might be fish tubercolosis, if it is, don't stick you bare hands in the tank or touch anything that has been in the tank without wearing gloves or putting it in hot water. Otherwise you will catch tubrcolosis, which isn't good :(.

I've had it for over a month now, and i always have my hands in the tank :/ How would I know if there is something wrong with it or if its just oddly colored?

Also someone told me that my female guppy is actually a mosquito fish. I googled pictures and I have to admit looks awlfully like a mosquito fish. What do you think?

Fish TB is not a disease that can be transmitted to people. I wish it had another name so that people would stop making that mistake.

That is 100% not a rosy barb, it looks like a mutated zebra danio.
