How soon to add the "clean-up crew", crabs, snails

Hey, I was just wondering how soon should you add crabs, snails, micro-starfish, etc, to a salt water aquarium. I'm not in a hurry to add anything, but if there is a certain time to add them to help remove or recycle wastes, nutriets, etc, i'd like to know.

I'm starting a nano-reef (12 gallons). I've done salt water tanks before, however, I don't remember how soon after I set up the tank that I added these critters. All I remember is that I added them before I had any fish.

As soon as the tank has cycled.
You will need cleanup crew in at the same time as you introduce fish (if not slightly before).
