I have my new 10 gallon tank going and I have 1 plec. and 1 Bala Shark. I know that they recommend keeping them in groups but since I just started I held back on getting another. Would 3 fish be too many?
Any comments or recommendations would be great!

If its a common plec u have, they we'r talking 12" and the bala sharks can get even bigger, minimum tank size for a fish of such size would be 70-80gal+ If u can return them to the shop or get a bigger tank ;)

I dont think 70-80G's should be construed as a minimum for keeping Silver's. It's an ideal size but I don't think it's cruel to keep them in somewhat more restricted surrounds, say, no less than 50G's.

Anyway, I agree with you on the whole, Stickles. Reconsider your fish mate, cos both are far, far too big.

Suggestion? A limited school of Guppies, Neon Tetras, or Zebra Danios. All are colourful, easy, & pleasant-natured :)

In relation to bottom-dwellers, quite a few Corydoras would make an excellent choice for your particular situation.
