I have a male bolivian ram. He knows who I am. When i get back from school (7th grade) he comes out when i walk into my room. He won't come out to see other people unless i am there or if he is hungry. This is what i like about him. His behavior is very strange because he is the only fish that comes out to see me out of all the fish I've ever had. This is why you would keep a dull looking fish, for their personality. These are very smart fish(in my opinion), I would reccomend them. I'm only twelve so their not that hard. 8) :hyper: :grr: :hey: :fish:  ;) :D :) :sly:

 You will find that most cichlids display recognition, it's one of their more endearing qualities. They will hide at the site of a stranger yet eat out of the hands of their provider.

my convicts are like that too..... my female betta is the coolest tho :D

Are your rams dull looking? Just curious, cuz mine are beautiful. And, as you said, full of personality. Mine come up to the glass and follow me around the room. It's so cute! I haven't had the pleasure of them breeding yet, but I imagine watching them take care of their young is another adorable site. Good luck with yours.

I have a male golden ram and a golden inca snail in a ten gallon. When I drop in the sinking pellet, the ram, Rameriz, hurrys up and grabs it and takes it as far away from the snail as he can. There is plenty for both of them but he hoards it and eats his fill until the snail finally lumbers over to eat the left overs. Rameriz used to take it into a rock cave I had in the tank but after the snail got wedged in it (luckily I found her before she drowned) I took it out. I swear Rameriz knew that the snail couldn't fit in that cave.

I have an oscar in a 55 gallon and im in 8th grade. It recognizes me when i come into the room and starts looking left to right for food but when my friends come in the room it tries to bite them through the glass. Its really fun to watch him hunt feeder goldfish. My auratus does the same thing.

my angelfish knows me too :)

when i hand feed him bloodworms he nibbles at my finger, and when i'm looking at the tank, he just swims by looking at me
