Hi would like to upgrade from my internal pump to external, with a UV to help algae control. Does anyone have experience of this All Pond solutions product???

It seems a really good price at £60 ... but is it any good???

whats the size of the tank you want to use it on???

I've been running APS filters for a couple or years now with no issues.

Two points I'd like to make. The first is that, from what I've been told, UVs don't do anything much of benefit in freshwater tanks, so it's unlikely to help with your algae problem.

The second is that the stated flow rate is for an empty filter, with no media. Once you get media in there, the flow rate will drop by around 40-60%, so you might want to get the next size up. I have one of the 1400lph models on a 180l tank and, tbh, it really only just manages to cope.

If you can afford it (and have the space, they are huge!) I'd recommend you go for the 2000lph version.

One last thing, do bear in mind that to make these so cheaply, something has to suffer, and in the case of these filters it is build quality, especially the media baskets, which are a bit flimsy (although much improved in the new version). Having said that, if you treat them gently, and wiggle them until they click into place rather than forcing them you won't have problems.

It's still a filter I highly recommend, personally.

Its a Fluval deep. 110 Litre tank. thats 31 inch by 16 x 17 approx from memory  . big improvement from my 47 lire previous one. :hyper:
i have no experience with this brand of filter as i have an Eheim which is awesome btw. but the reviews seem good and the specs seem ok so should be ok although I personally would go for the larger one £79.99 if I remember correctly as I like the idea of over filtering so i know its keeping the water in the best possible condition

im sure someone else on here has had experience with all pond solutions and can give you info on the reliability and performance in more depth but if your inpatient like me then you will just buy it and see for yourself lol. if you get one let me know what you think of it as I might buy one lol

i have the 1000lph model but decided to go for the one without uv as its a tenner cheaper and im not convinced of the benefit of having te uv. had a problem with the taps when i received it but was sorted by aps very quickly and has been working fine since.

im sure the 1000lph version will be more than enough to cope with a 110 litre tank.

The SunSun stuff can be a little hit and miss in my opinion.

I had a large 330L SunSun tank that leaked within a year.

However, I've had a lot of pumps & other smaller items from them and they have been great. The build quality is poor, but they get the job done at a fraction of the cost.

I wouldn't trust anything with the potential to leak though in my opinion. Large external filter included.
