How Old Are You, And How Long Have You Been Fish Keeping?

Lol... Just reading some of the posts here, really quite amazing!

I'm 15, had fish since i was about 5 (my dad looked after them)... Then progressed to a goldfish when i was 6. Then had no fish for quite a while, then had a 12 gallon which held goldfish... Then in the last 3 years i got a 3 foot 180L custom tank (mum wasn't real impressed, she almost died when she saw how big it was in the room; and would often hate seeing all the water on the floor from cleaning the tank out) she then got used to it, and now can't get enough of it... To a stage where she offered me to put one in the wall :) But i'm trying to con my way to keep my 180L going... Now i have alongside the 180L a 12 Gallon, and am starting to plan my 120 gallon within the wall (should be fun)...

Other than that, i have always loved my fish, and the trend will probably continue for many years to come. :)

28 - started 3 years ago with a 20 litre cold water tank - I now have a 275ltr Tropical tank

I'm 32 (33 in November :( ) Been keeping tropicals since I was 15 when I had my first tank in my bedroom!!! My mum has had loads of tropical tanks and always big ones (4-7ft) so I grew up with it really. I've been thinking seriously about getting a Marine set up and have decided I will, but I'll have to sacrifice mt tropical tank to make the space  .

I am 28 knocking on 29. I have kept goldfish as a kid. I won one at the fair when I was about 7 and it lived in a washing up bowl for a month until I saved up for a tank. We knew nothing of keeping fish and knowing what I know now I was suprised it lived 5 years as I never had a filter or did weekly water changes, once every 3 months I would sit him in a pint glass while I cleaned the whole tank out. After he doed I didn't bother until I was in the army and looked after my mates tropical set up for 6 months while he was in Bosnia, I did everything he listed on the sheet and they all survived, infact I even bought more for him. After that I had a few goldfish when I left the army but I was duped by the LFS and gave up hope, one day I visited my mother and she had a nice tank on the go and she convinced me to try again a couple of years ago. I bought two tanks off an old man who didn't feel he could manage fish anymore, he educated me about cycling and off I went, then when I upgraded to a Trigon 350 I came here for advice and despite a posting hiateus I never left. Now my eldest kids want a tank for their room and they nearly have me convinced, all though I want them to get a Siamese Fighter as I can't have one in my set up.

I'm 27, and I have been keeping fish for about a year.

I always thought of aquariums as one of those mysterious hobbies I would never understand, but then my wife talked me into starting a tropical tank, and next thing I knew, I was researching plants, building custom lighting and filters, and setting up my third tank. It's going to be very difficult if we ever want to move out of this house.

I'm 26 and have been keeping fish myself on and off for about 6-7 years roughly.

When I was growing up though we always had a tropical tank and also had two ponds with both koi and common/mirror carp (which where liberated from a local private fishing lake :p ). The mirror carp was only about 5inchs big when it was put in the pond but was about 2ft long and around 10lbs when it was rehomed years later. So I have always been interested in fish.

I have only kept Tropical fish and mainly they have been tetras, barbs and dwarf Cichlids. I'm planning to get into marine set ups soon though and would also like to start breeding Betta's too (If I can find space for more tanks). Over the last month I have finally got round to setting up a high tech planted tank which I had been planning to do for ages.
