How often should I test my water and when should I test my water

I have test kits and can test my aquarium water but I’m confused on when I should be testing it and signs that i should probably test my water, any advice? I just don’t want to run out of my test kit fast.

Only test when you think things look strange. Is your tank well established and have you been adding new fish to it? If you add new fish, it is a good idea to test after their introduction. If you are doing the same routine weekly, then you most probably don't need to be testing.

I test that little iv had api master test kits expire and they have a self life of years , it’s all about your tank in my opinion you can notice things after a certain amount of time within a set up same as I know when my dogs are not well they don’t need to tell me there’s just little indicators that let you know , if I test my tank it’s because I already know there’s a problem and the test is just to tell me how much water needs to be replaced to solve the problem
