Definitely agree that fry are an exception; they should be fed at least twice, preferably three times a day (along with the requisite large water changes, of course!)
So most folk feed once a day. Not surprised by that. I am surprised at how many feed twice a day. Not saying its wrong. I just personally feel it's not necessary. And then when you see that some only feed every 2nd day it's quite a contrast.
I feed twice a day. Whether its right or wrong depends on what species of fish you keep. Fish with small mouths like my threadfins do better with small frequent feeds. Greedy fish like platies don't but I feed them twice too for the sake of the fry that are always in the tank.
