I thought making some coconut plec caves would be a good idea, all went well until I tried to get the tanning out of the shells.
I boiled them at least 6 times and the waters still turning brown.
Any ideas please?

Hi, with mine I just poured boiling water over them after sanding off the fibres and put them straight in. No bother from water staining at all :D

Hi doresy :)
Thank's for the reply. I didn't want my tank looking like a cup of tea.
I'll take your advice and put them in then.
Thank's again

p.s. Nice pictures :)

Congrats on making me laugh out loud !! LOL "How Often Do You Boil Your Coconuts?"

I did mine for about 6 water changes, then gave up as the water STILL turned brown, they have been in a small tank for over a year with not a hint of colour in the water, so thats that !

FYI, The correct term is tannins. Tanning is what you do to animal hides as well as something that George Hamilton overdoes. B-)
