Hi everyone,

I have been doing a fishless cycle on my baby tank and going through the long nitrite spike. Well at long last my baby tank has shown a 0 on the nitrites so i think it means that i can think about putting my babies in it.

My main tank (with breader box) is ph 7.2 Am 0 Nitrite 0 Nitrate 20

My baby tank is ph 8.0 Am 0 Nitrite 0 Nitrate 40

My tap water is PH 7.8 Nitrate 10

What water change do you think i should do on my baby tank 50%, 25% etc.??? :dunno:

Then how long should I leave and check readings before I put any of my babies into it??? :dunno:

Any suggestions greatfully received. :D

I recoomend hitting it with one more feeding of ammonia, then if it process that feeding of ammonia, vhange 50 percent of water, next day go get your fish, Congrats :kana: :kana: :kana: :kana:

Hi canarsie11, I cycled the baby tank with filter media from my main tank and put in small amount of fish food twice a day to keep it going. Therefore do you mean put in one more pinch of food. :hyper:

Oh when you said fishless, I thought you used ammonia. Since you used fish food, i recommend the 50 percent change, go get your fish. But do not over do it, keep an eye on your water parameters, if truly completely cycled, then you can add more

Thanks cararsie11, I thought of putting in 3 babies, see how it goes then 3 more every few days - does that sound good to you ??

p.s. I will check the parameters every day for a while.

Exactly, how many babies total? The should not have major bio load, so maybe 5 babies at first

Thanks for the answers.

Sorry just thought of another question.

Is the PH difference ok

main tank ph 7.2 tap water 7.8 so even if i do a water change on baby tank there I can't bring it as low as 7.2.

Should i therefore also do a water change on main tank (last one done last saturday) would this bring the PH's closer together ??
