how much to offer for a 45-55usgal used tank?

how much should i offer to pay for a 45-55usgal tank that is used. this is just the tank nothing else no hood no nothing just the glass tank.

reason being its my roommates tank, but he is kind of flaky in that he says he wants all this stuff, sting rays then turtles and other bs. then he says he dosent have any money to spend right now. i want to just buy the tank from him and do my own thing since im tired of trying to explain to him why these things wont work based on the research ive done and question ive asked.

Without knowing what prices tanks go for in the US i dont really know but i presume they are cheaper than here in England. A 50 gallon tank sells for around £60 over here so i wouldnt expect to pay any more than £30 to £40 for a second hand one depending on its condition, what these prices convert to in dollars i dont know.

Well I've bought a 30g tank from the paper at a bargain price of $10 AUS which is about $6 american...so I think if it has nothign included like this one you shouldn't offer too much unless its in perfect condition...I would maybe pay around 20-40 dollars max (But hey that's just me)

My own personal opinion... for a tank that size, with no hood or any accessories, second hand.. fifty bucks.

I just bought a new 55 gallon for 150.00 but it came with everything except gravel and a stand of course. You can get a new empty 55 for about 99.00.
