Hi guys.

I'm getting a second hand 18"x12"x12" tank this weekend and I want to turn it into a nano planted tank. By my caluclations it should be approx 10 US gal. It comes with no hood or anything so I want to get some nice lighting etc.

Ideally, I'm looking for something like clipon lighting so I don't have a hood as such. I guess ArcoPod style, but more powerful? It was suggested in another post to maybe try Interpet t5 compact lighting, but I can't find out if they are clip-on or if I'd have to do some jiggery-pokery to get them mounted?

Any suggestions (and links!) greatly appreciated!

For medium planted two arc pods would probably be about right, so around 20-25w.

I guess if you want really powerful lighting ( and as a result, CO2 injection ), then you could try overhead luminaires... You can get them on aqua essentials... There are also lots of overhead, clip-on lighting on ebay...

Arcadia do reflectors :) I don't know of a clip that would let you create an 'Arch' type light though. I'm sure you could DIY one though, depending on your DIY skills!

EDIT - thats got me thinking! :shifty:
