Hey, Im going to be building a custom tank, its a clear seal tank, which will have lights fitted in. (probably why its so expencive!)

via-aqua doesnt have enough surface area for my liking, the clear seal tank has a larger surface area (so i can have more fish)

I have the plants and decor (so i didnt count them in, they were very cheap anyway)

Hopefully it'll be worth the money!

On my main tank I spent about £2000+ not including fish, thats for a 6 1/2 foot.

on my 4 ft I spent about £1200

on my little tank about £75

worth every penny :D

My 100 gal tank was build by a mate. We used believe it or not 10 ml hardend glass from ex jewlery display cabinets. So that was free. External filter about £100 then the heater & powerhead and the lighting. Just the ocean rock was about £100. The cost of fish, well I gave up counting a long time ago.

My Brackish Tank was free its well. Its a Juwel 240. The Company I work for had their offices refurbished and I was lucky the fish tanks where given away so long you picked them up yourselfs. So i got myself a nice 4ft tank for nothing.

2ft tank for my Malawi Crab with everything was about £ 75.

2ft Juwel tank for my tanganikan chiclids was £ 85.

120 litre tank complete setup with filter + heater +stand = £180

hmmmm

my 5ft 80G tank was £40 on ebay, heater was £8 and filter was £20 all from ebay.

4ft 55G tank came with a stand and hood etc and that was £100, again from ebay.

3ft tank was £40 for everything including fish from a friend and then the little tanks i have havent been more than £30 plus fish.

:X

I have the ViaAqua 418 (11g) with overhead luminaire - £65
Hydor prime 10 - £45
50W heater - £12
CO2 unit - £9
Plants (loose) - £7 ish
Bogwood + Javamoss - £8
Bogwood - £6
Slate - £3
Fish - £23
Master test kit - £20

Which is a grand total of £198 before considering a drawer full of water conditioner, treatments in case of emergencies, spare filter media an assortment of foods and plant fertillisers

 Well worth it, people ought to be including a picture of what it's all for in their posts ;)
