How Much Are Plecs

thanks for all of your help, but i have decided to just keep with my platies.
i have made this dicision based on the fact of how much they poo, and also how big they get!
also i just dont have the space to keep them.
but thanks, but ill stick with the god ol' platies.

yeah, ive read that plecs can live for up to 25 years if kept well. Mine is 7 years old atm

How big is your tank? Mines in a 46cm x 30cm x 30cm tank & is doing very well (alltohugh im upgrading size so i can add more fish)
I paid at the top end of the price range for mine - £28 - but i did my research on the place i bought him from & knew it had been well looked after etc. I'm not sure of the exact species - but its a bristle nosed, i think hes fully grown now at app 12-14cm. If you change your mind and get one please do find it a hiding place! (i bought a cave for mine) in my experience plecs are pretty shy & if you make it jump siddenly (like switching on the tank lights) it will dart for the darkest place in the tank, no matter whats in the way - plants and all! lol
Mines been pretty hardy - had him for just over a year now - but as said its not worth buying one just for the cleaning ability.
I got mine spimply for the looks & found out it cleaned a month down the line lol

I used to have a pair of clown loaches - they did a good job of cleaning too & are reasonably small - unfortunately they had whitespot though as i bought them from petsathome

i stand corrected - my supplier told me they grow to app 4-5cm max
