I have read in various places that cory's like to be in groups but can also be kept alone. I wanted to hear from someone with some experience if you think a cory will be ok kept alone in the tank? I want to get one b/c my tetras let a little food sink to the bottom all the time and I'd like something to help clean it up.

Thanks!

no they need groups of atleast 6 and shouldn't be used to eat leftovers they require proper food too.

if you have left over food then feed less

+1 - Corys are a shoaling fish and dont do well on their own,and shouldn't be used for mearly cleaning the tank, has said feed less and you'll find you'll have less waste from the tetras :good:

Well I'm kinda stumped there. I have tried feeding less but then they don't get the little pinch of food, it just all drops to the bottom, I've been having a pretty tough time getting them to eat, it's like their oblivious to food I put in. Any suggestions?

I have brine shrimp, flake food, and slow sinking granules. They do a lot better with the granules (they won't eat from the surface) but still seem to miss a good bit of them. If I just put a small pinch in, all will pretty much go to the bottom and they'll only get 1 or 2 granules.

Also, not sure if it matters but as of this morning it looks to me like one of the tetras has started to terrorize what I believe is a female (she's bigger than the others and not quite as bright), at first I thought he was just chasing and playing with her, but he is swimming around kind of eradically and chasing the female all of the place; he occasionally chases at the other two smaller tetras but they chase back. It also seems the smaller tetras are chasing the female every now and then too, could I have a sick fish on my hands maybe causing the problems?? ((sorry this is getting so long))

Could be a breeding thing, sounds like you got more males than females...

Has for feeding if they prefer the granules just add a weeny bit each time,1 or 2 granules each will be fine in theory, the bellys are only the size of the eye,so hence dont need much really...

Ok, thanks both of you for your help... I only have 4 of them so I will just get 2 more tomorrow!! And I'll feed them reeaaallly slowly, it'll be worth it to keep the tank clean.
