How Many Shrimp?

Hi, quick question, how many red cherry shrimp will fit in a 5 gallon tank with one betta fish? I don't want to buy too many, but the minimum reasonable price they're selling for on ebay is 12 of them plus 3-5 for DOA. I already have 4, so that would be about 20 shrimp in my 5 gallon, but I wanted them to breed, too. Thank you for helping me.

I read 10-15 per gallon. But I don't know how much that would be considering you have a fish too.

The beta might eat the shrimplets too.
