Currently i have a 24 G nano cube (jbj) 2 driftwood pieces and 4 plants (2 a. swords and 2 aniubus) with 4 head and taillight tetras

my question is I am about to get some shrimp for the tank. How many do you think I can get in there? 4? 10? never had shrimp so not really sure how many is to many?

I am not sure because I have never kept shrimp, but I think it would depend on the type of shrimp. I suggest having a search around on the internet and come back with some different types of shrimp that you like. Shrimp experts on the forum can then advise you on what types will go well in you tank and how many. Good luck searching. :good:

never had the red nose rudolph ones but i have amano shrimp in my community tank and they are fine. if you wanted both i would only get afew as they will probily breed so you might end up with a few more  amano shrip lay eggs which turn into larvae which will probily get eaten by your fish but if it doesnt then you will probily end up with a few more. never had the other ones and dont know anyone who has. search them on the internet and see what they need.
hope i was a help :good:

hm interesting... so they dont have much impact on water conditions and aslong as you have food in there for them it really won't matter much?

Not interested in breeding basically if it happens fine but im not going for it.

they create VERY little waste

Amanos wont breed in fresh water either like the red noses they can have egss but the eggs never pass larvael stage as they need to be transferred to salt water

have you looked at cherrys , tigers or green shrimp these all breed easily in fresh water and are fun little characters

SHRIMP should be fed a couple of times a week and not just left to eat waste food that is in the tank , you also need to makew sure you dont add any coppper to the tank as this will kill them

shrimps enjoy bogwood , java moss and little caves
i usually drill small holes in the bogwood then if its planted it covers them and they have lovely little hidy holes

i have 3 amano shrimp and they munch some holes in the amazon swords if not fed regularly im looking into getting cherry shrimp myself ATM and they look nice and breed themselves so i think they are a good choice for beginners

I just ordered some Cherries off a member here look in buy & sell. Very reasonably priced me thinks! These will be my first so can't wait :)

cherries are good shrimp to start of with if you want to start breeding them. there small aswell so you can have more of them than other shrimp!!
