How Many Neon Tetras In A 180l (over Filtered)

timmystood he said he had a pH of just under 7 :shifty: 30-40 cardinals would be good.Maybe a ram or something ,as your pH is quite acidic(well more nuetral),to keep them shaoling?

That doesn't mean he has soft water. Quite often hard water will come out around 7 or 7.5.. my tap water does.
Water is classed as soft when it has a general hardness of 6 degrees or lower.

See here for more info.

I know the pH scale(not that you thought i didn't) ,i typed it then thought no.Thats why i put more neutral :good: . Does it matter if his waters pH could change by .5 ?It wold only be used for water changes. Then it would mix in with the older, more mature water.

i tell you what looks good with neons and thats rummynoses, both will shoal together and look amazing, a nice shoal of red phantoms would be great with the neons as well

Loads of food for thought. Started the quest yesterday with 5 black neons and 8 yellow congo tetras. Will wait a week and get the same again and build up each week. The neons in the LFS were tiny and would have disapeared up the filter intake!

gh is >6d but less than 10d
kh is 3d
