Right now I have 3 female Platies, 1 male, 1 small suckie fish, 2 small frogs, 3 female guppies and 6 males in a 15 Gallon tank. Is that to much or could I add a few more? They all seem to be doing great too !

WOW! Settle down there with the fish :/ First off that is probably all you need, please I would recommend not adding anymore fish. Even though they seem that they are doing really well, you shouldnt risk. I may be overeacting, but I think you have enough fish for now, even the frogs. Just settle down and enjoy what you have. Oh and what are the conditions of the tank? Nitrate, Nitrite, ammonia, ph, etc?

YOUR REALLY OVERSTOCKING THAT!! Get rid of some of those fish! Do you know how many babys your going to have? And your definetly stressing out those poor guppies because theres so little nubber of girls and more men. Two females to everyone male!! Theyre going to die from over breeding!

I agree to the overstocking. I didn't fully calculate the number of inches you have of fish there but i can already tell by the number of fish that you have way to many. The general rule is 1" of fish per gallon and when you calculate that you much also use the max size of the fish unless your for sure going to get a bigger tank in the near future.

Now if you keep the fish you have now in that tank and when they grow bigger then you may notice they will be having problems swimming around as much because of less room. Also, once those fish hit max size which will be soon then your Nitrates will be rising like no tomorrow and you will have to clean that aquarium so many times a week just to keep it normal.

Oh, i just noticed how many males you got per female. You should always have at least 2 F/1 M. By getting more males than females you are stressing out your female guppys and with that many males they will defiantely be getting some disease from a weakened immune system and possible death.

Also, with guppies you should think about do you want to keep any of the fry? If you do then you will not with that many fish and will definately need another tank for the best survival rates. When your stocking a tank then you should think about the future instead of right now.

what worries me also is *3 female guppies and 6 males* it really is very bad for the females, minimum is 1 male to 2 females. I had to separate my female platties from my tank because I only have 3 and 5 males, so all they did was *IT* and I cound't stop having babies, I counted 50 +..

So yeah try and balance that out first. But is overstocked already, so is a bit of a problem, mind you if you do more water changes it will help a bit but dont count on it.

Good luck :)

i would try and move 4 of your guppy males cause not only will you have tons of babies but the males will be stressin the girls to death. thats never good. i have 1 male and 2 females and he is only likein one female and i can see the one he likes taking the stressful beatings. labored breathing hasping etc.

try to skim down the fish.

Hey I took your advice I have given some guppies to my sister. See what happend was I had a 49 Gallon tank and I couldn't keep it anymore Cause I will be going to work on a cruise ship the end of the summer. So I gave it to my sister but didn't give her any of my fish yet because she hadn't sat it up . BUT She has now. I also found out that I have a 15 Gallon not 10 .. I fell bad that I had it over crowed.. I didn't know. Soory :(

Thats okay. As long as you saw the error and fixed it which you did. I would say that you shouldn't have any permanent problems with your fish but they may be a little stressed from what happened and will need to relax in the next couple of weeks.

Did you check your water params after you moved the fish? Just in case the nitrates skyrocketed between the time you tested last and now. You might just want to go ahead and do a good water change to help them out, fresh clean water is the best remedy (without chlorine of course). To help out the 45 gallon that your sister has you might want to let her borrow some of your gravel. That way if her tank isn't already cycled it will help the cycling process. Just put some gravel in a pantyhouse, tie the end and place it in the aquarium. Should go a long way.
