How many heaters should i use. I bought a new 300w heater as the one i got has broke. The man at my lfs said i should use 2 x 200w heaters. Is he trying to make more money or should i later invest in what he says. My tank measurements are length 121cm x width 41cm x height 70.5cm. The aquarium contains 210 litres. Should i use a 300w heater or 2 x 200w heaters at both ends.

i would personally use 2 x 100watt in a tank that size, as long as your tank is in a normal temp room, the reason for 2 is if one breaks then the water still has a heater to at least keep it at a reasonable temp for the fish and if one breaks and stays on all the time the tank will not over heat.
i suppose 2x200 is actually probably a better idea as one can do all the heating you required in a failure.

also it depends on how often the tank is looked at, some ppl really watch there tanks all the time and will notice almost straight away if any thing has changed.

hope this has helped :)
