Hi all,
Out of guppies, mollys and platties which fish produce the greater amount of fry from one birth?

i have been keeping fish for years and the one we have more luck with are guppies and mollies they are usually good breeders often get 40 ish on average on them never had much luck with platys only ever had 5 platy fry in the past 7 or 8 month

My mollies typically have more babies but I have found that their gestation period is slightly longer than most other livebearers so it probably works out about the same over time.

a well matured molly can have 100+ fry. i have had 2 lots of fry in 3 months from my platy and she is about to drop again!

just had 25+ fry from hi fin platy :)

nice my platy gave birth to about 11 fry a few days back, any pics of your fry?

back on topic mollies usually give birth to more fish but they do have to wait a bit longer while guppies breed much faster. In the end I would assume guppies give birth to more fry in a year than mollies.

Guppy fry become sexually mature more quickly as well...
