Hello,
I am new to keeping fish, i have a small tank (28L's, aquaone 320. Dimensions:38w X 33H X 30D cm)

I currently have 7 neon tetra's in there, is this too many or can i add any more? I would really like a small sucker fish but i have no idea if i can keep one in a tank this size?

Any help would be great :good:

As the rule of thumb dictates 1" of fish per gallon you are able to accomodated 6" of fish. The filter you are most likely running will not be able to cope with over stocking. Bearing in mind that neon tetras grow to nearly 2" I'll let you do the math!

Incidently, other factors come in to play with the 1" per gallon rule. Don't be going out to get a 6" plec just because you have 6 gallons of water

Maybe cut down your neons to 4 then add a couple of ottos :dunno: Still over but do regular water changes you should be ok......do you have a test kit to check how your filter is coping?

Yes i do have a test kit, will get my brother to check it when he gets home from work (as he knows what he is doing and i don't lol) The filter i have came with the tank as its a starter kit (i wanted to start small and then go bigger when i have learnt more about everything)

I'm new to keeping tropicals also.
That's a pretty small tank. You can find threads/topics on this forum that will help. I think how many fish you can keep in your tank depends a lot on the type of fish.
Seems like little tanks are best for little fish. Little neons sound OK. I think I read that about one inch of fish per gallon is a safe bet but then again it depends on the fish species. A two inch chiclid and a dozen little neons would be a problem. LOL
I've found the members here to be very helpful and generious with their advice/time.
Good luck.
