How Many Festivums Is Considered A Group?

:D Look forward to seeing some pics!!!

Sourcing your group from a few different places is sensible too as it splits up blood groups etc.
Thank you

For some reason I don't doubt these are the same keyholes that they had at that shop when I first went there a long time ago, doesn't seem like they grew all too much, but they said they don't regularly stock them. How fast do these guys tend to grow?

Also, would a big group of bleeding hearts be good enough for dithers or should I throw in some smaller, more active schooling fish (which are still big enough to not be raphael food)

Are there any other cichlids aside from dwarves that can get along with these guys?

They should grow fairly quickly, with proper care. Bleeding hearts should be just fine. As for other cichlids, severums, "geophagus" and angels work well.

A group of 6 Angels would win for me. Although orange head tapajos are stunning. But Angels would fill the top half of the tank whilst the Keyholes would mainly patrol the bottom.

There was a breeder not far from my place that was selling orange head tapajos for $50 per 6. Thought they looked great myself. Not sure if the price was good or not  I'd go for it regardless, except the bottom is already gonna be rather crowded, as I've got a bolivian squad of 6 on the bottom now.

Angels in my experience have been rather bashful, though I do like the blue guy I have in my 37 gallon.

My previous severums were plant destroyers, as much as I love them, I'm trying to get a lot of low maintenance greens in the tank  one of them was also pretty moody, and I don't want it murdering my bolivians

$50 for six Orange heads seems very reasonable to me. I've got to agree with minnnt on the angels, besides a few others, they are one of the few cichlids I can think of that spend most of their time in the upper half of the tank.

Breeder said the parents are f1 too, so I was tempted, but I think I'll stick with the Rams lol.

Would a group of 6 or 7 angels fit with the rest of the stock?

I would say yes, but I have a tendency to over stock. Let's see what minnnt says...

6 would be great. I never go for odd numbers, but that's just me.
I usually go for even numbers with cichlids, odd numbers with schoolers, wasn't sure which to consider the angels when being kept in a group, but I'll go for 6.

This wouldn't bring me too overstocked, would it? I'm still persistent with water changes, usually doing 20% weekly, but I'd like a bit of slack once I start going to college, maybe be able to miss a week, but never more than 2, without the fish hating me and getting sick.

Don't buy from dr foster and smith . That place is a rip off. Look on aqua bid first. that pet place was good when I bought from them years ago and good prices.

As for festivum I have one left and he is about 6". He is 2 years old. I had 3 the 2 beat up the weak one. Then the 2 I had left turned on each other. So now I have one. They set up a pecking order much like discus and angle fish but do fine alone. Mine now lives with a severum and uaur. They get along well.

I would not keep less then 5 of these fish. They can ge gat in groups. They love to each plants too.
