I will be setting up my new tank soon, it measures 24" long * 12" deep * 15" high and I reckon that's about 15 UK Gallons or so.

I've currently got 2 each of Albino and Peppered cory's in my other tank and I'm moving them over, the new tank is gonna be sand, purely for the cory's benefit, how many more should I put into this new tank do you think? I can't really have a total of 6 of each, but could I get away with 4 of each? or just have 3 of each so they are happy?

Will sort rest of stocking around these guys, but I will be having a few molly/platy cross's from a mate of mine so he doesn't kill them.

Hiya

I would think 3 of each would be fine as they will reach roughly the same size. However you might want to get more purely for their comedy value, bigger groups of cories are always fun to watch. ;) Having said that I have 6 in my tank and find it a good number.

4 of each should be fine, as they tend to stay towards the bottom, where the live bearers are more of a mid dweller. Corys are a blast to watch, and really earn their keep as a clean up crew.

Absolutely. Plus, you only have to think about bioload. Cories don't have aggression issues and no need to think about enough "territory". Cories are relatively low waste producers too

I'm liking your replies so far, I love my cory's, though the abino's are nuts! and I'd like plenty of them.

I might stick at 3 of each in total and maybe add 3 Panda's if the tank could take it.

my cories are very funny.my bronze cories have some common sense to run away when i add a new ornament or doing a water change but my albinos
are kinda "special"lol they dont care if i am trying to net them they still dig at the bottom looking for something to eat

Hi Arfie :)

Pandas are much smaller and more shy than your other two kinds of corys. In this case the size does make a difference.

I would suggest you stick to just keeping the Albinos and Peppereds together, perhaps getting more of them, or adding another kind of similar size. Save the panda idea for another tank where you can keep a nice school of them by themselves and you will really be able to enjoy them. :D

Dash you Inch

Yeah I probably would stick with the peppered and albino's, just have to get another tank for some panda's :D

it'll be worth waiting to have a big flock of pandas they look so cool all in a pile :) i agree with sticking with albino and peppered for now though, the panda really are very small.

They seem happier in bigger groups....my 2 adolfoi corys always hid from me and were quite frightened but I really liked them so I bought another two, now the group of them always sit at the front of the tank looking at me saying 'hey there is four of us and only one of you!" haha they think they are invincible now!
