This Younger Spouse
Fish Fanatic
Hey all:
I've recently established and cycled a long 20-gallon to use as a cory tank. I've currently got six endlers in there (can easily go back to my spouse any time), and several days ago added six albino corys. They immediately started shoaling and behaving in that adorable way cory lovers have come to enjoy. I've set it up with purely a sand substrate, and plenty of shaded low homes of rock and wood. About a dozen plant bulbs have been added and are sprouting and growing for the surface.
Here's the deal.
I can take or leave the endlers (sorry, honey!), and my spouse will give me six more albino corys, which would put me at 12. I really like the idea of 12 corys in there shoaling around. I'm concerned, however, about them getting enough to eat. Typically, my understanding of corys is that they forage for whatever leftover food the other fish don't eat. But if there are no other fish in the tank, then what? If I just put in standard fish flakes, seems to me the corys would do well with that, and of course I can put in the wafers as well. They love those.
Does anyone have a tank with NOTHING but corys in it?
I have also thought about getting a pair of GBRs for the cory tank after the endlers go. That could be a pretty cool community. I know bioload could be an issue.
I welcome any perspectives on this.
