Hey guys!
I am thinking of setting up a 15 gal tank that I just found! I haven't started yet so this is purely planning...
I was wondering about how many cories would be comfortable in this size tank. I have recently grown to love the cories and I want to have this tank with mainly cories in it. I'm thinking of a few cories each of about 2 or 3 species.
Any help will do also what other fish would do best with the cories if I were to get others as well?
Thanks! :)

Once you get your tank cycled, you could probably home about 6 to 8 full sized cories in a 15 gallon or 15 or so pygmy type cories. Cories have a reputation for not doing well in a new tank but so far I have not had that problem.

Hi purplefish212 :)

I keep hearing people on this forum saying that corys aren't good in a new tank, but have no idea why. They have always been one of the first fish people chose for a community tank. While it's true that some of the wild caught, especially the long nosed, species are more delicate than the average Cory, they are not likely to be found in the lfs. Another one I wouldn't recommend, unless the member has experience with corys, is the C. panda. They just seem to be touchy little fish.

Eight corys would probably be fine for your tank if you didn't have many other fish in there with them. They will get along fine with most small and peaceful fish. One of my favorite tanks is a 55 gallon with nothing but corys, kuhli loaches and otos. There are two 1" long male limias in there too, but they are hardly noticeable. All the action is toward the bottom and the sides where the otos like to spend their time.

Have you given any thought to the species of corys you might be interested in?

Okay thanks guys.

I was thinking of C. panda, some C.albino because I have one and he's super cute, and maybe adolfi but I haven't seen these or the pandas at all in any LFS around me.

I would suggest getting a school of solely Albino cories. I don't believe a 15 gallon can house two or three seperate schools, and since you already have one albino, that should be the largest priority.
