How Long Will This Minicycle Last?

Hi all,
I have upgraded from two internal filters on my 200l to an external eheim 2217. All filter media went in to the canister but it was such a pathetic amount compared to the rest of the filter media in there! It looks and sounds heaps better but this morning I have a bit of ammonia and a bit of nitrite, 0.25 ish (no more than that) for both. Anyone know how long this is likely to last? Today and tomorrow I can do big changes but unlikely to be able to from Wednesday til Saturday.

Repeated the test. The first time ammonia wad sky high. Did it again and no trace of either! Got hubby to do it again and nothing. Think I must have a duff kit.

Can't believe how quiet the external is for such a big filter. Although it was a bit of a pain to prime, we ended up cutting the pump and about four inches of hose from a siphon and using that.

If your chemistry has returned to normal, I think you already have your answer. A canister type filter is always dead quiet compared to internals or hang on back filters. If you are used to one of those,you can bet the canister will seem silent by comparison.
