Hi. I got a female Dalmation Molly about a week ago, and she was already pregnant. She's a lot bigger now than when I brought her home, but I don't know when she's going to have the babies? Is there any way to tell? I have a ton of plants in the tank and I was hoping to scoop the babies up when she had them and put only the babies in a breeder net, but what if she has them in the middle of the night? I wish there was some way to tell when she was going to have them so I could be on the look out. Will she give any signs when she's going to give birth soon?

Sorry for all the questions lately! Thanks. :D

when female livebearers are pregnant , they often become reclusive , and nippy at other fish and hide at the lower parts of the tank. if your tank is heavily planted you probably wont need a breeder net. what else is in the tank?

edit - also , so far my females have only given birth in the night

She is hiding a bit, and staying at the bottom a little, but not nippy at all. She's actually very sweet. What else I have in the tank, fish wise: 2 Female Black Mollies, 2 Male Dalmation Mollies, a Female Dalmation Molly, and the very pregnant Dalmation Molly this post was about. Oh, and an algae eater.

One of the other Black Mollies looks pregnant and so does the other female Dalmation Molly.
