How Long, Tall, And Wide Is A 55g?

I was thinking about getting one but I need to know the measurements so I can see if I have enough room for one.

A standard one at my LFS is 48x12x20". Of course, there are lots of variations...tall, wide, cube...etc. Not all of them are always 55 gallons, but they tend to be pretty close. What kind of fish are you looking at keeping?

Ok thanks. I now know I have the room but now I have to get my grandmother to let me get it. She thinks that if we would have to move that it would be to hard to move it or if the power went out this winter that the fish would die. God grand parents can be so stubborn and ignorant. Well I am going to try and get it any way.

your grandmother has some valid points, you have to be prepaired for everything that hits you and your fish this winter.

Also, remember that 55 gallons vary in size, so the one Anna mentioned before might not be the same as your LFS's, but it's likely, so just be preparedf and look around abit.

55 Gallons can vary greatly, you would have to decide if you want a 55 gallon long tank, or if you more interested in width and depth.

Yeah I know I wouldn't want a 55g long that would take up my whole wall. Thanks for the help guys.

Dollar per gallon, your best values in tanks are 55's & 10's. They are the most commonly made.
